Top 5 things to do at home with the kids

Even though we are safe indoors helping fight Covid-19 it doesn’t mean the Easter holidays can’t be fun. Check out our top 5 ideas to keep the children entertained this Easter.

1. Easter Egg Hunt
The kids may not be able to run around in the grass, but that doesn't mean you can't get them to expend some of their energy during this year’s Easter Egg search.

Why not get them to do it blindfolded or print out clues and every time an egg is found, they have to do the action on the reverse of the clue.
The whole family can get involved and the best bit about organising your own one is you can choose the chocolate and another family won’t get there first.

2. Joe Wicks PE classes
Joe Wicks, fitness instructor, has been helping the nation stay healthy with his daily 30-minute PE classes every weekday. These are streamed live from his home on his YouTube Channel The Body Coach TV. The workouts aren’t just for kids, they provide great exercise for the parents too!

3. Get Crafty
Whether it's painting, pottery or paper mache - Lockdown is the perfect time to let them explore their creativity.

See what you can build from everyday items, such as castles made of old kitchen and toilet roll tubes or a boat made out of an old fairy liquid bottle.

4. Baking
While they can’t take part in food tech at school, if they enjoy baking then you could get them to make a dessert for the family this Easter - how about a cheesecake, blueberry muffins or some banana bread?

Or the kids would love to help out with cooking dinner and learn some new skills, how about trying to make a pizza from scratch.

5. Host a quiz night
Give the iPad and Netflix a break for the evening and get everyone together for a family quiz night, which could be on topics ranging from geography to music or art history to sport. If the grandparents are technologically savvy get them involved on FaceTime, House Party or Zoom.
The prize could be choosing the next game to play, picking the takeaway, an Easter egg or perhaps just the joy of the winner knowing they are the biggest brain-box in the family.
